THE SHOW
My latest show is a tribute to iconic songwriters Chris Difford and Glen Tilbrook, in particular their work as joint leaders of Squeeze.
Their often witty - but always brilliant - songs have peppered the charts and the airwaves since 1978 - with their two UK number 2 hit singles ("Cool for cats" and "Up the junction") being kept from reaching number one by "Bright eyes" by Art Garfunkel and "Are friends electric" by Tubeway Army respectively. Their 2015 album "Cradle to the grave" was actually their biggest selling album upon release.
The first set features a collection of their best-known work, including "Tempted", "Is that love?" "Pulling mussels (from a shell), "Another nail in my heart", "Labelled with love" and "Hourglass".
The second set is a complimentary mixture of other songs written by English writers around the same era: so you can expect hits from The Smiths, The Jam, Elvis Costello, The Clash, Joe Jackson, XTC and many more besides.
It's a brilliant show, and I am convinced that it will grow to be a very popular addition to my repertoire.
